Methodology, Thought of FiguresAbstract
Ideally, research on a figure’s thought should be conducted using a systematic, critical, and contextual scientific approach to fully portray the intellectual journey and the figure’s contribution to the development of knowledge. However, in reality, many studies remain merely descriptive and fail to deeply explore the proper methodology needed to understand the structure of thought and the socio-cultural context of the figure. This situation often results in biographical repetitions and data presentation without strong reflective analysis. This study aims to explain and formulate a research methodology on the study of figures’ thoughts that can be used both academically and practically within scientific research, particularly in Islamic and socio-humanities studies. This research is categorized as library research with a qualitative approach. The primary sources consist of scholarly works and original writings of the figures studied, while the secondary sources include journals, books, and previous relevant studies. Data analysis was carried out through hermeneutic and content analysis methods, with data validity tested through source triangulation and thematic interpretation. The findings reveal that the methodology for studying a figure’s thought requires an integration of historical, philosophical, and contextual approaches. Researchers must be able to comprehend the biographical dimension, value system, and socio-cultural background that shape the emergence of a figure’s ideas.
